wah lao. exam guidelines for tomorrow's paper. what the.. haix. i am not even halfway through my readings. ke yi qu si liao. =X

SC3219 exam this year is not in the typical essay format.

1. Do NOT be a fluffer. The exam questions are set in such a way that either you know or don't know the answers. So do not pad, do not fluff, do not bullshit. They are also objective questions in good old fashioned sociological manner: so you would not be asked about your opinions. Instead you will be tested on knowledge of course materials.

2. DO write like journalist. If you have studied mass media (newswriting), you would know that journalists pack the most important information in the first few lines of their news article. In other words you have to be CONCISE. You are supposed to write 6 sentences, plus or minus, in response to each question. So plan your answers before writing. No lengthy exposition is required. You can notate your answers in point form. The examiner (grader) would not read beyond the 6 sentences (plus or minus). So don't waste time writing too much. In some ways, this exam is also a test in brevity, precise writing as well as knowledge of course materials.

3. DO be an evironmentalist. Save a tree. Do NOT write double-space. A compact answer requires single-line text. There are 10 pages in the answer booklet, and there are 10 questions you have to answer. If you ask for additional booklet, the chances are: you're in trouble cos you have written too much (and no credit is given at all since I will not read beyond the 6 or 7 sentences).

4. Write down all the number questions you have answered in the front of the answer booklet (there is a box column). This is for the clerks to add your grades. If you do not do so, the clerks may miss out your grades! Good luck.

wish me good luck man! =/
